H.P. - Reflection on Group Editing Session

With our deadline getting closer we had a discussion as a group about how to push our editing forwards in order finish the project in time. We came to the conclusion that our progress was being held back far too much by the limitations of the technology and software available to us in school. We think that this is a particular issue for our concept due to the vast variety of shots, high cutting rate and the requirement to sync Eleanor's singing with the track. This has been near impossible to achieve due to the sound on the computer cutting out frequently and the video stuttering, despite attempts to compress the footage and make the load easier for the computer.

We concluded that the only way to progress our editing at a rate which was acceptable was to move all the files to a better computer at my own house and spend a whole day working on the edit as a group. Despite it being my own computer, all three of us were fairly familiar with the software and we all adjusted very quickly to Adobe Premiere CS6, a much newer version of the software we had access to in school.

We also decided to set up a static camera in the room to film the whole day's work, allowing us look back at the footage, cut it up and include important discussions in our video log. This also provided a complete account of the day to provide evidence of our work.

Here are some details of our progress on this day and the decisions we needed to make throughout the editing process:
