K.H. - Visualising Tracks

  • Takes place in a 20/30s period setting, with a modern-noir style, in gray-scale
  • The video follows a newly transformed vampire girl (a young adult, middle-class) as she struggles to recover from her first hunt for blood
  • The verses would focus on her lying on her bed, possibly clutching her stomach in pain and looking for potential things that could give her comfort, while also looking to for help and support from her rather unsympathetic boyfriend/husband
  • The chorus follows the girl (and potentially some vampire friends of hers, the "girls" mentioned in the chorus) in flashbacks as she goes blood-sucking throughout the city, at points delivered in stylised Sin City inspired sequences in silhouette, the blood and the girls eyes being the only things in colour
  • To keep the video tonally consistent with the song, it would make sense that the girl wouldn't actually kill anyone, and their wounds wouldn't be shown in detail
  • The video would end with a flashback to the girl's boyfriend/husband biting her and transforming her to bring the plot full circle (there is also potential for a twist ending here, where this unsympathetic character the audience has been seeing throughout the video has actually been a vampire the entire time, but he can't properly understand why the girl is in so much pain because he's been a vampire most of or his entire life)
(please note, video is unofficial)
  • Uses a hallucinogenic style, where colours are incredibly over saturated and edited in post so that certain colours are inverted
  • Opens with a drawn out lateral pan across a deserted beach at sun-set to a male character (young adult) wearing broken sunglasses and a torn Hawaiian shirt sitting on the sand
  • He is clutching his side and appears to be suffering from a bullet wound
  • He removes his glasses to reveal his wide afraid eyes and the camera gradually zooms in on him before fading into a series of hazy, slow-placed flashbacks that show how he wound up in his position. The sun should be visible in the sky or through windows for the majority of the flashbacks

  • Two scientists working on android technology from an industrial looking lab with neon lights finally perfect their work and create a basic, but functioning human mind and body
  • The video opens with watery shots of the two scientist adjusting some values and wiring as the android gains consciousness and looks around the lab (this could be entirely POV shots)
  • As the music picks up, there could be a short montage of the scientists celebrating their achievement over several days and inviting colleagues over to see the android (similar to the POV sequence from Robocop)
  • The scientists than begin testing the androids movement functions and brain capacity and are shocked by how advanced it is. They begin testing its capabilities when interacting with other humans in constructed situations
  • The video ends with the android being left unattended as the scientists have learnt to trust it, at which point the android unplugs itself and walks out the lab. It is left unclear as to what happens after this point

  1. The vampire idea for the Caro Emerald track is really good. It would be interesting to do something like that in a noir style, we could make some great images.
