F.L - Inspirational and Visualising Music Videos

  • Emphasis on darkness with fire being the only source of light.
  • Fireworks and light dancing.
  • Cutting between daylight scenes and night time scenes – both following same group of young adults/teenagers.
  • Follows the story of single teenager within a big group (given prevalence).
  • Day time scenes show hope, but the night scenes show him alone – video follows him until the time meets (day turns into night).
  • Night time scenes set in a derelict area/scrap yard, with one fire.
  • ‘Submarine’ influence.

  • Follows a young girl who sets off on her bike.
  • Instrumental parts follow scenic photography of forestry and her cycling through, with excerpts of her on a tree swing etc.
  • She slowly ages throughout the video.
  • With continued behaviour, e.g still playing on swing etc.
  • Video finishes with her being a young adult with her own child there.
  • Emphasis on natural lighting and scenic cinematography.

  • Abstract music video featuring the band at a seaside town.
  • The video with cut between shots of the band playing their song on the beach with instruments on the sand area.
  • The other shots will show the band in the sea stood in the same places, waist deep in water signing/lip syncing the song.
  • The shots in the water will be from different distances, but the same angle and the band will remain in the same places.
  • The slower parts of the song, like the start, will be them calm in the water.
  • Faster, more upbeat parts, such as the chorus will be the band on the sand.

  • The simple and slow panning cinematography allows emphasis to be placed upon the surroundings and main character – we could emulate this by incorporating simplistic filming in order to emphasis the narrative.
  • The dull colour wash could be used in ours because we’re considering a black and white overlay, which would fit with the darkened colour scheme of the video.
  • The cutting between the main character and scenic shots elsewhere can be used in ours because it helps break up the narrative and also give contextual aid to the audience.
  • The lighting explosion helps change the mood and atmosphere of the video, which we could incorporate into ours to give the notion of time change (due to the fact we’re considering a video through time).

  • The setting and characters within the overall video is quite simple and easily achievable, which can be emulated in our video due to our low budget etc.
  • Lens flare is used in there video, which makes the video look more professional and complex – we can add lens flare in our video on edit mode which could add to the professionalism of our video (however, only if appropriate).

  • Natural lighting was heavily used which added to the professionalism of the video making the quality loo better – this could be easily achieved and incorporated into our video.
  • Handicam shots are used for a lot of the moving shots; we could use this in our performance so that movement and varying angles can be use.
  • The video features a lot of interaction with the music, with the dancing be synced with the music – this could be used in our video to show the style of the music we choose to use (which, if swing, could be highly effective).
  • Basic clothing was used which fits with our low budget creation, and therefore can easily be emulated in our performance to enhance the simplicity of it.
