Caro Emerald - Liquid Lunch Video Concept and Test
One of the songs we are considering making a music video for is Caro Emerald's Liquid Lunch. This song is in the Electro-swing Genre which is strongly influencing the development of many of our ideas, with one of our strongest ideas currently being to set the video in a neo-noir style world, where cultural influences from both the 1920's and the modern day collide. For Liquid Lunch, Kurtis presented the idea of having a narrative that centered around a female protagonist who is undergoing a transformation into a vampire. The twist in this potentially cliched storyline is to set it in this neo-noir style. The video could include a mix of regular filming techniques with some basic 2D animation and greenscreen work to produce flashbacks in a silhouette style, in which the only colours would be black, white and red.
Caro Emerald used a style similar to this for the promotions surrounding her album 'Scenes From The Cutting Room Floor', with our style adding or even replacing the black in her images with white to make the images more clear and also to achieve a slightly more retro inspired style. Using some old chroma keyed footage lying around, we created the following concept test image.

The concept test image looks really effective, and also combines with our idea of silhouettes for the production. This fits well with the style of her 2010 album.
