F.L - Reflection on Shoot #2
Shoot Reflection
Shoot #2 - The Performance (AL1)
- On this shoot I took on similar roles to the previous shoot and mainly worked with the fog machine, this was because it was more of a prominent part of the scene. I also kept check of the shot list and followed it through, and then as a group we quickly discussed the planned shot and made sure that we still wanted to do that, and then went on to discuss the best framing and movement for it. We had positioned the lighting before we started shooting so we rarely needed to move it.
- Similar to before, although I primarily helped with the other parts of the shooting, I did do some filming near the end scenes when the vampires begin to 'attack'. This involved using the shoulder rig to film. We used a variety of movement and static shots, however, they were primarily movement shots. We used a lot of panning shots, as well as some tracking and crabbing shots. I also took the photos at the end for print work - this was a mixture of crowd shots and then photos of the band. We had already made a shot list beforehand which meant we knew the exact shots that we needed to complete. We took a variety of close up shots and also wide shots.
- The overall location of my house was good because it meant that we had enough spacing for the band and audience to spread out and socialise (which added to the realistic atmosphere that we were aiming to capture). We used a lot of lighting, including 3 flood lights, 3 sets of fairy lights and also a blue spotlight. We had previously set up this location before so we knew exactly where the lighting should go for it to give the best coverage over the space.
- At the start we had some initial issues, such as one of the band members breaking their instrument, however, after fixing it using some duct tape we could quickly carry on. Other issues that occurred were getting the right reaction shots from the audience when the vampires began to attack - however, after many attempts and different angles and positions we got enough footage.
- I believe the shoot went well and we got a lot of footage that we were pleased with. We stuck closely to our storyboard and ensured that we got plenty of filler shots as well, such as ones of the crowds socialising and enjoying the performance.
